Krishna says

te taṃ bhuktvā svargalokaṃ viśālaṃ
kṣīṇe puṇye martyalokaṃ viśanti
eva trayīdharmamanuprapannā
gatāgataṃ kāmakāmā labhante

Meaning

After enjoying that vast heavenly world, their accumulated merit runs out, and they fall back to this mortal earth. By following rituals just to satisfy their desires, they are stuck in a loop of coming and going.

What it means for us today

Heavenly rewards earned through good deeds are like a bank balance; once spent, one must return to the struggles of earthly life. True wisdom lies in seeking a permanent connection with the Divine rather than chasing temporary rewards.
