Chapter 2, verse 5
Bhagavad Gita 2.5
Arjuna says
gurūnahatvā hi mahānubhāvān
śreyo bhoktuṃ bhaikṣyamapīha loke
hatvārthakāmāṃstu gurūnihaiva
bhuñjīya bhogān rudhirapradigdhān
Meaning
I would rather live as a beggar than kill my noble teachers. Even if they are driven by worldly desires, they are still my elders; any wealth or pleasure I might win by killing them would be forever stained with their blood.
What it means for us today
Arjuna feels that success achieved through violence against loved ones is meaningless and tainted. This shows how ethical confusion can make us want to run away from our responsibilities.
