Bhagavad Gita 18.12
Krishna says
aniṣṭamiṣṭaṃ miśraṃ ca trividhaṃ karmaṇaḥ phalam
bhavatyatyāgināṃ pretya na tu saṃnyāsināṃ kvacit
Meaning
For those who remain attached, the results of their actions—whether pleasant, unpleasant, or a mix of both—will follow them after death. But for those who have truly let go, there are no such lingering consequences anywhere.
What it means for us today
People who work with selfish motives are bound to face the good and bad consequences of their actions in the future. Those who work selflessly are freed from this cycle of karma entirely.
