Meaning

Some dedicate themselves to breath control, offering the inward breath into the outward breath, and the outward into the inward. By mastering these flows, they bring their breath to a complete and peaceful standstill.

What it means for us today

This refers to the yogic practice of breath control known as pranayama to calm the mind and body. Regulating the breath helps in achieving deep concentration and spiritual focus.
