Meaning
Just as a tortoise pulls its limbs inside its shell, a truly wise person can withdraw their senses from the distractions of the outside world. This ability shows that their understanding is firmly grounded.
What it means for us today
We are constantly bombarded by distractions from the outside world. The ability to pull our attention inward at will protects us from being overwhelmed and keeps our mind strong.
