Gita Chapter 18: Mokṣha Sanyās Yog
Chapter 18, verse 8
Bhagavad Gita 18.8
Krishna says
duḥkhamityeva yatkarma kāyakleśabhayāttyajet
sa kṛtvā rājasaṃ tyāgaṃ naiva tyāgaphalaṃ labhet
Meaning
If someone abandons their work just because it is difficult or out of fear of physical discomfort, their letting go is driven by the restless mode of passion. A person who quits for these reasons never gains the true benefit of renunciation.
What it means for us today
Avoiding hard work just because it is uncomfortable or stressful does not lead to spiritual growth. Growth requires us to push through physical and mental resistance to do what is necessary.
