Chapter 16, verse 18

Bhagavad Gita 16.18

Krishna says

ahaṅkāraṃ balaṃ darpaṃ kāmaṃ krodhaṃ ca saṃśritāḥ
māmātmaparadeheṣu pradviṣanto'bhyasūyakāḥ

Meaning

Blinded by ego, power, arrogance, lust, and anger, these malicious people end up despising the divine presence. They resent Me, the Supreme Lord, who lives within their own hearts and in the hearts of everyone else.

What it means for us today

When we disrespect others or abuse our own bodies, we are disrespecting the divine presence within all beings. Ego and anger disconnect us from this universal truth.
