Meaning

Even the wise are confused about what constitutes true action and what is inaction. I will explain this to you, and by understanding it, you will be freed from misfortune.

What it means for us today

The true nature of action is complex and easily misunderstood. Krishna promises to clarify this so that Arjuna, and the reader, can act in a way that brings spiritual freedom rather than bondage.
